Alysn Midgelow-Marsden

Alysn creates works for the home, the garden and workplaces which energise and inspire. The works celebrate human connections and capture moments of sensed textures. The forms concentrate on beauty, raw energy, the body and the wider environment; creating lyrically fluid tensions and interactions. Whilst an early scientific training can be discerned through her investigative approach, she successfully negotiates a narrow path between materiality, concept and aesthetics; masterfully manipulating textile and stitching skills in metal, metal cloth, wire, plastic, concrete and paint.
Alysn is based on the Tāwharanui Peninsula north of Auckland, exhibiting and teaching nationally and internationally.
