Glasswort has become a recurring subject in my work, drawing me back to New Zealand's coastal wetlands and the remarkable plants that thrive there. Its segmented, succulent stems are beautifully sculptural, but they are only part of a much larger ecosystem.
While my earlier specimens focused closely on the plant itself, this sculpture expands the view. A clear circular form surrounds the glasswort, suggesting the tidal wetlands where it grows and quietly hinting at the wider landscape beyond the specimen.
