Mary Jessie Sullivan is a full time artist from sunny Hawkes Bay and often runs workshops from her seaside studio.
She paints large contemporary landscapes and seascapes in subtle moody tones, often rich in texture with layers of translucent acrylic or oil paint combined with mixed media. Minimialist and serene, the work has described as a cohesive collection of random mark making.
Her other medium uses organic materials such as beeswax, pigment, ink and shellac, heating them for the process of encaustic wax on wood.
Mary’s artwork can be found in selected galleries and private collections throughout NZ and internationally.
