Michelle O'Loughlin
My connection with clay began at art school in 1989, when I first touched ceramics and have been hooked ever since. After completing a Hons Degree in Design at University in the UK, I worked as a fashion designer across the UK, London, Sydney and Hong Kong before returning to ceramics. My practice explores connection, memory and displacement through sculptural stoneware and porcelain, with inspiration drawn from nostalgia, lost traditions and the stories held within objects. I try as much as possible to work intuitively, creating with the heart to the hand, and enjoy experiments with glazes and form.
