The work of acrylic painter Nicolle Aston reflects how she sees life – vibrant and delightful, yet delicate and layered.
Nicolle is deliberate with her subject matter and enjoys the simplicity of portraying her subject without abstraction or nuance, but she does not attempt absolute realism.
“I like to feel free to play with light, shadow and amplified contrast. I deliberately avoid the fine details realism requires and place more emphasis on shape, form, and the bold use of colour. Acrylic paints help me to produce a crisp look which merges stylism with realism.”
