Occasionlly I love to paint with more textures and to make bolder marks, to be freer and looser with my expression, to use vibrant contrasting colours. this is one of those paintings.
Here I have depicted an epic sunset over the sea, ( Waikuki beach in the South Island, but it could literally be anywhere you wish ) sand and seagrasses are in the foreground in the coming purple hue of dusk.
I have used modelling paste to build up the grasses, parts of the sea and the clouds to give texture to the senses. then I applied the paint using different sized palette knifes, building up depths and colours.
Twilight Palette was so satisfying to create. and I find even more satisfying to view.
I have edged the deep sides of this canvas in a Carbon Black, it makes the painting itself POP !
This will look stunning where ever it is hung, it will command the viewer to 'Stop' and possibly 'Touch'.
